Bhopal: A quick-thinking team at SBI’s PBB Lalghati branch just saved a local grocery businessman from a Rs 2 lakh cyber fraud, turning a potential disaster into a testament to their exceptional vigilance.
The scam, which unfolded recently, involved an outsourced credit card representative who allegedly took the customer’s phone and card, illicitly transferring funds under the guise of “credit card updates.” However, the customer’s immediate action upon receiving transaction alerts proved crucial. He swiftly contacted the SBI branch.
Recognizing the urgency, the vigilant bank staff, demonstrating remarkable professionalism, managed to call the perpetrator to the branch. Once the suspect was there, they promptly alerted the police. More critically, their quick strategy led to the full recovery of the customer’s Rs 2 lakh directly from the accused.
“Had the bank staff not acted with such promptness and vigilance, my years of hard-earned savings would have been lost forever,” expressed the relieved shopkeeper, overflowing with gratitude.
