Old Stepwell of Bada Bagh
Among the water structures located in Zone No. 05, Ward No. 09 of Bhopal Municipal Corporation, the stepwell of Bada Bagh holds significant importance. The stepwell was constructed approximately 200 years ago. The stepwell is three stories high, and its walls, stairs, parapets, and arches are adorned with vine leaf carvings.
The Municipal Commissioner informed that under the Jal Ganga Conservation Campaign, Bhopal Municipal Corporation removed plastic waste, floating materials, and about 40 cubic meters of silt from this stepwell. Harmful weeds on the walls of the stepwell were removed, which has resulted in the inflow capacity of the stepwell reaching 2000 liters per hour. Currently, the water from it is being used for domestic (non-potable) purposes. Repairs of the walls and stairs of the stepwell have been done along with painting, laying of paving stones, and installation of iron grills (fabrication work).
