Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince to skip G7 summit in Italy

Riyadh, June 13 (UNI) Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has informed Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni that he will not attend the upcoming G7 summit in Italy, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) has reported.

In a cable sent to the Italian prime minister, the Saudi prime minister thanked Meloni for the invitation to the summit, adding that he will not be able to participate due to commitments related to overseeing the works of the Hajj season, the agency reported on Wednesday.

The Saudi official also noted the depth of the Saudi Arabia-Italy relationship and wished success for the summit’s proceedings, the report said.

The G7 summit is set to take place in Italy’s Apulia region from June 13–15.

The Hajj is an annual Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, the holiest city for Muslims.
