Kathmandu, July 16 (UNI) Emergency rescue and other services involving China’s navigation satellite system have become available in Nepal as a comprehensive tourism guard service project was launched on Tuesday in the Kathmandu Valley.
Reliable rescue is enabled through satellite positioning and short message communication service unique to China’s homegrown BeiDou Navigation Satellite System.
The project also covers travel insurance, emergency treatment, satellite communication services, satellite communication devices and a comprehensive tourism guard platform for tourists to Nepal.
“Under this project, we have deeply integrated cutting-edge global positioning technology with the actual needs of Nepal’s tourism sector for safety, thus not only injecting strong impetus for high-quality development of Nepal’s tourism industry, but also providing an innovative benchmark for global tourism security,” Wang Qiang, deputy general manager of China’s NORINCO Equipment Co. Ltd., said at the launch ceremony held in Lalitpur, a city in the Kathmandu Valley.
Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song described the project as a significant achievement in technological practice and business innovation between China and Nepal as well as a model of pragmatic cooperation tied by shared development consensus on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Through the cooperation model of “technology sharing, standard co-construction and capacity co-enhancement,” the two sides have jointly introduced advanced management concepts and technological means into Nepal’s tourism industry, laying a solid foundation for its long-term, healthy, stable and safe development, Chen said at the launch ceremony.
Tourism is a major contributor to Nepal’s economy, noted Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO of the Nepal Tourism Board.
“In this journey to establish Nepal as a safe, reliable and premier holiday destination, services that prioritize the safety and well-being of our guests play a pivotal role,” Joshi said at the launch ceremony.
