Bhopal: The Open Thailand National Championship-2025 was organized from 14 to 18 April 2025 at the National Sailing Club Sattahip Thailand. About 239 players from teams of 10 countries participated in this international championship held in Thailand, which included India, Malaysia, Thailand, Hong Kong, China, Myanmar, Russia, New Zealand, Japan and Taipei. Participation was organized in 06 events of sailing in the championship, 1. 470 class, 2. 420 class, 3. LCA 4, 6, 7, 4. 29ER, 5. Optimist, and 6. Hobie-16 event. In the championship, Sports Academy’s sailing players Eklavya Batham and Akshat Kumar Dohre won bronze medals by performing well in the International 420 class event. This is the first time that the players of the Sports Academy won medals by giving commendable sports performance in the championship.
Sports Minister Shri Vishwas Kailash Sarang congratulated both the medal winning players of the International Championship held in Thailand while appreciating their sports performance. Sports Director Shri Rakesh Gupta also congratulated both the medal winning players Eklavya Batham and Akshat Kumar Dohre, the team of Akshat and Eklavya has won a medal in the 420 class event for the first time. The State Sailing Water Sports Academy is operating in Badi Lake Bhopal. Both the medal winning players are training under the guidance of Sports Academy’s sailing coach Shri Narendra Rajput.
