- Police Transport Research Institute issues strict advisory
Bhopal: The Police Transport Research Institute of Madhya Pradesh has issued a critical advisory, emphasizing the non-negotiable importance of Motor Vehicle Insurance. Police are appealing to all vehicle owners to secure insurance immediately to mitigate severe financial liabilities and legal complications.
According to the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (Section 146), operating any vehicle in a public place legally mandates a minimum of Third Party insurance. Driving without valid insurance attracts heavy fines under Section 196: Rs 1,000 for two-wheelers, Rs 3,000 for light vehicles, and Rs 5,000 for medium/heavy vehicles, in addition to further legal action.
= Grave consequences of accidents: The advisory highlights that in the event of a road accident, if the vehicle is insured, the insurance company bears the liability for compensation claimed by the victim. However, if the vehicle is uninsured, the owner is personally responsible for the entire claim amount, potentially leading to losses worth lakhs.
Top five benefits of insurance:
1- Peace of Mind and security on every journey.
2- Financial Safety from high repair and medical costs following an accident.
3- Full coverage for Third Party losses (injury, death, and property damage).
4- Protection for your Own Damage against accidents, theft, or natural disasters.
5- Access to Cashless Repair facilities at network garages.
The Police appeal:
“Motor Insurance = Legal Security + Financial Safety + Mental Peace.
For your secure travel, ensure your vehicle is insured.”
