Moscow, Dec 11 (UNI/SPUTNIK) Russia is working to determine dates for the Russian-Arab summit, which was scheduled for October but was postponed, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin said.
“As you know, the summit was postponed in coordination with the League of Arab States (LAS). Naturally, it will take place. This will require significant, thorough preparatory work. The schedules of all state leaders must be coordinated so that this summit, which will truly be the first in history, becomes a major event,” Vershinin told reporters.
He said Russia is working with Iraq, which currently holds the presidency of the LAS, to organize the summit.
“We are working on it,” Vershinin said when asked if there are any tentative dates for the summit.
In early October, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to postpone the Russian-Arab summit so as not to interfere with the Middle East peace process.
Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said contacts have already begun with representatives of Arab countries regarding postponing the Russian-Arab summit to the first half of 2026, and the date will be specified later.
