Bhopal: Bagsewania police have registered a case and detained a man for allegedly using a forged Fixed Deposit (FD) receipt worth Rs 1.5 lakh to secure bail for three accused, including a notorious history sheeted criminal.
The fraud was uncovered after a local court within the DCP Zone-2 office accepted the FD as surety during proceedings against history-sheeted criminal Gopal under Section 122. The accused, identified as Mohammad Salim, presented the FD—purportedly from the State Bank of India—to secure bail for Gopal and two other individuals.
Upon verification, police sent the FD to the bank, which confirmed it was completely fake. Following the revelation, police immediately registered a case and took Salim into custody. During interrogation, Salim revealed that he had obtained the counterfeit document from a person named Riaz from Gwalior. Police are now actively searching for Riaz, stating he will be apprehended soon as the investigation into the elaborate fraud continues.
