Bhopal: Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla announced that patients will soon receive super-specialty medical services at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, located within Shyamshah Medical College, Rewa. With the introduction of state-of-the-art equipment in the Gastroenterology Department, all liver-related treatments will be available locally, eliminating the need for patients to travel outside the region. A contract worth Rs 6.4 crore was signed with NCL for the Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Interventional, and Endoscopy divisions operating under the hospital’s Medicine Department.
Speaking at a program held at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, Shukla emphasized that liver disease treatment services have already begun. He stated that once all the necessary equipment and machinery are in place, comprehensive liver care will be available locally, reducing the need for patients to seek treatment abroad. He praised the dedication of doctors posted in Rewa, highlighting that they are well-equipped and motivated, which inspires ongoing improvements in healthcare.
Shukla further stated that Rewa is now capable of treating a wide range of diseases, and patients are no longer referred elsewhere. He added that doctors from other states are expressing interest in joining Rewa’s medical community. The government is committed to developing Rewa as a prominent medical hub, with plans to renovate the medical college and affiliated hospital, and construct a doctors’ colony at an investment of Rs 322 crore.
Hospitals in all divisional headquarters across the state are being developed as centers of excellence, ensuring access to advanced medical care locally. Shri Shukla also thanked NCL Singrauli for their contribution, including a Rs 1 crore donation for restoring the Naiknihai Bravery Memorial in Rewa. He commended NCL’s efforts in healthcare, environmental preservation, and cultural heritage.
