Bhopal: The Bhopal Smart City Development Corporation Ltd. is responsible for the maintenance of 64 traffic signals across the city. These signals are monitored from the Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) Control Room, ensuring that they are operational at all times. These signals have been installed as part of the ATCS (Advanced Traffic Control System) project under the Smart City initiative.
Recently, there were minor disruptions in the functioning of some signals due to external factors. For instance, at Vallabh Bhawan Junction, power supply was disrupted during the day due to maintenance work by the electricity company, which caused the signals to remain non-operational until 5 PM. However, the signals resumed normal functioning afterward.
Similarly, at the Shivaji Nagar Junction, the power supply was interrupted due to a feeder shutdown, and a complaint was filed with the electricity company under complaint number 2025041808341. At Tulsi Tower Junction, the signals were temporarily disabled by the traffic police. Traffic signals at 1250 Shivaji Junction and Bitton Market Junction were switched to blinker mode by the traffic police due to issues with left-turn clearance.
Despite these brief interruptions, all signals, including those at Rajeev Gandhi Junction, are now functioning smoothly with no technical malfunctions. The technical team promptly responds to any issues reported through the control room, ensuring that the signals are quickly restored to normal operation.
