- Exhibition Showcasing Artworks from the “Green Impressions” Workshop
Bhopal: “Only when art educators themselves are sensitive and refined can they connect the next generation with creativity, environmental awareness, and aesthetic sensibility,” said Prof. Amitabh Pandey, Director of the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS). He was speaking as the Chief Guest at the inauguration of the exhibition ‘Green Impressions: Art, Environment, and Expression” held today at Manjari Art Gallery, TT Nagar. He observed the artworks created during a three-day residential workshop hosted at Azim Premji University—featuring paintings, fabric collages, recycled material sculptures, and quilts—and described the exhibition as a beautiful expression of environmental consciousness.
Special Guest Himani Khanna, IPS and Inspector General of Police, as well as an art enthusiast, remarked, “This exhibition compels us to reflect on how we interact with our environment. The perspectives on nature and sustainability reflected through art here are truly commendable.”
The exhibition presents the creative outcomes of a three-day residential workshop in which 32 selected art educators from various districts of Madhya Pradesh participated. The workshop was jointly organized by the National Centre for Human Settlements and Environment (NCHSE),
Child Rights Observatory Madhya Pradesh and the Art-Design Teachers’ Forum, with support from Azim Premji University, Bhopal. It was curated and facilitated by renowned Mumbai-based artist and storyweaver Indu Harikumar
The exhibition features artistic interpretations using plastic waste, nature-inspired textile collages, handmade musical instruments, and creative “blackout poetry” from repurposed newspapers. The exhibition remained open to the public on June 6 from 4 PM to 8 PM.
