Bhopal: Bhopal witnessed grand celebrations on Wednesday as a large number of people paid tributes to Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas on his Jayanti. Various programs were organized across the city to remember his contributions toward building a just and equal society.
A special program, organized by Gurunanak Mandal at the Yoga Center in Idgah Hills, saw a unique gesture of respect. MP Alok Sharma washed the feet of 101 senior citizens and honored them with shawls. Speaking on the occasion, Sharma highlighted the teachings of Sant Ravidas, emphasizing his message of equality, love, devotion, and simplicity. He recalled how Guru Ravidas opposed caste-based discrimination and advocated for social harmony.
Adding to the celebrations, a grand procession was taken out from Panchsheel Nagar. A large number of devotees participated, chanting hymns and remembering the revered saint’s teachings. The procession reflected the deep faith and reverence of the people toward Guru Ravidas.
The celebrations across Bhopal marked the significance of Sant Ravidas’s vision of a society based on justice, unity, and equality, inspiring generations to follow his path.
