Male Tiger attempts to attract Tigress
Mandla: The Mukki Zone of the Kanha Tiger Reserve is currently the focus of intense excitement after a pair of magnificent tigers was filmed engaging in a rare and private moment of courtship. An exclusive video, now rapidly circulating online, shows the male tiger T-125 making persistent attempts to woo the tigress T-106 (MB-3).
A glimpse behind the veil of the wild
The thrilling encounter was recorded by tourists, offering a privileged look into the seldom-seen social dynamics of the big cats. T-125, affectionately known to trackers as the ‘Collared Tiger,’ was captured on camera trying to win the attention of the female. This dramatic interaction provides an authentic glimpse into the true, unfiltered excitement of the jungle.
Sign of a healthy population: Wildlife experts and Kanha management officials have labelled the footage as “exceedingly rare” and historically significant. They note that public sightings of such intimate and natural behaviour between a male and female tiger are extremely uncommon, making this event a valuable addition to the reserve’s history. Experts underscore that the open display of this interaction between the two majestic animals highlights Kanha’s rich biodiversity and, more importantly, confirms that the park’s tiger breeding cycle and social behaviour are healthy and active. The viral video of T-125 and T-106 not only elevates Kanha’s popularity but also serves as powerful evidence of India’s successful efforts in tiger conservation.
