Rani Mukerji honours police ahead of ‘Mardaani 3’ release

New Delhi, Oct 21 (UNI) Rani Mukerji is all set to reprise her iconic role as a fearless cop ‘Shivani Shivaji Roy’ in the much-anticipated third installment of the Mardaani franchise. Titled Mardaani 3, the film will see Rani don the uniform again to tackle a “brutal case”, bringing back one of Indian cinema’s most powerful female characters.

Ahead of her big-screen return, Rani marked Police Commemoration Day 2025 by extending a heartfelt salute to the Indian Police Force, lauding their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to protecting the nation.

“It is an honour for me to salute the Indian Police Force through my film franchise Mardaani,” Rani said in a statement. “Across the country, there are countless officers risking their lives and sacrificing personal time to ensure our safety. Words cannot truly express the gratitude they deserve for putting the nation and its people first.”

Rani also reminded citizens to recognize the humanity behind the uniform. “We must remember that behind every uniform is a human being who chose selfless service, who decided that the country comes first,” she added. “They are someone’s son, daughter, husband, wife, father, or mother — and I deeply respect the force with all my heart.”

The actor praised the fearless spirit of India’s police, highlighting their bravery in confronting crime and criminals.

“Their selfless courage inspires me to live fearlessly. They often miss important moments in their personal lives to serve the nation. It cannot get more selfless than this, and I love honouring them through Mardaani,” she said.

Rani said the police force should stand as a symbol of “courage, devotion, and unwavering patriotism,” encouraging everyone to do their part in upholding these values.

Directed by Abhiraj Minawala and produced by Aditya Chopra under Yash Raj Films, Mardaani 3 is scheduled to hit theatres on February 27, 2026. The makers unveiled a powerful poster for the film in September, coinciding with the Navratri festivities.
