Ranchi, (UNI) Ranchi police recovered 5,000 gelatine sticks, suspected to be linked to illegal mining activities, in a major late-night operation in the Piska area on Wednesday.
Acting on a tip-off about explosives hidden in a house, the police swiftly dispatched a raiding team, which carried out a thorough search of the premises. Along with the gelatine sticks, 300 detonators were also seized, all safely secured in line with safety protocols.
During the operation, two suspects attempted to flee under the cover of darkness, taking advantage of nearby bushes. Police have intensified efforts to track them down.
The raid was conducted on the instructions of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Ranchi, and was led by the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Silli.
Preliminary investigations reveal that the house belongs to Jhagru Bedia, against whom a case has been registered under the Explosive Substances Act.
Police have formally seized the explosive materials and initiated further legal proceedings. Treating the incident as a serious security concern, an expedited investigation is underway.
