Mumbai, Mar 18 (UNI) Filmmaker Mohit Suri has clarified that actor Ranbir Kapoor is not part of his upcoming project, putting to rest widespread speculation about a collaboration following the success of “Saiyaara”.
“Ranbir Kapoor is not in my next film. I genuinely want to work with him and I hope he feels the same way about me. I went to meet him to discuss and intend to work together. Meanwhile, it’s been in the news that we are already doing a film together,” he shared with Variety India.
Mohit and Ranbir have known each other as the latter has been following the former’s career right from the beginning. The 44-year-old director praised the actor, calling him a great star who appreciates a film like ‘Awaarapan’ even though it flopped when it was released. He keeps telling Mohit it’s one of his best films.
Mohit, whose directorial repertoire includes “Aashiqui 2”, “Malang”, “Awarapan” and “Ek Villain”, delivered a significant commercial success last year with “Saiyaara”, which introduced Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda to mainstream audiences.
Mohit believes that Ranbir has the depth and layered nuances he wants in his hero.
On the professional front, Ranbir is currently busy with multiple projects. The actor has “Ramayana” (two parts), “Love & War” and “Animal Park” in the pipeline.
