New Delhi, Nov 27 (UNI) Amid Opposition protests over alleged bribery and fraud charges against Adani group by the US Justice department, the Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day on Wednesday soon after it convened.
The Opposition MPs insisted for the constitution of JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee) to investigate alleged misconduct including corruption, bribery and financial irregularities of Adani group in connivance with other authorities.
Adani group has dismissed allegations as baseless.
Minutes after the House Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar took up the day’s proceedings, several Opposition members demanded JPC investigation into the Adani issues. The House was first adjourned till 11:30 AM amid protest but was adjourned for the day as soon as re-convened for the day’s proceedings.
The Winter Session of the Parliament which commenced on November 25, 2024 has seen continued protests over Adani row.
“The House stands adjourned to meet at 11 AM on Thursday (28th November 2024),” announced Dhankhar as the Opposition members continued their protests.
