Rajnath to lay foundation stone of rail unit in MP

Bhopal, July 25 (UNI) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will lay the foundation stone of a state-of-the-art rail coach manufacturing unit in Raisen on August 10, marking the beginning of a major infrastructure project with an investment of Rs 1,800 crore.

Ahead of the event, Bengaluru-based BEML Ltd Chairman and Managing Director Shantanu Roy along with Director (Rail and Metro) Rajiv Gupta, General Manager Chandrashekhar and Executive Director OP Singh paid a courtesy visit to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav at Samatva Bhavan in the Chief Minister’s residence, it was officially learnt.

Yadav was apprised that BEML Ltd is making preparations for the foundation stone-laying of the unit in Umaria village, located in Gauharganj tehsil of Raisen district. The project is being developed in collaboration with the Department of Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion, the Raisen district administration and other related agencies. The upcoming facility is expected to generate direct and indirect employment for around 1,575 people. Additionally, the process of land acquisition is underway to ensure seamless rail connectivity by linking the government-allotted land for the unit to the railway line.

The Chief Minister informed the BEML officials of the significant investment flowing into various sectors across the state. He emphasised that the establishment of the unit will provide substantial employment opportunities for local youth and bring about a positive transformation in the region’s economy. Principal Secretary (Industrial Policy and Investment Promotion) Raghvendra Kumar Singh was also present during the meeting.
