Mumbai, Aug 19 (UNI) South Indian film superstar Rajinikanth has once again reaffirmed his box-office supremacy as his latest release “Coolie – The Powerhouse” has galloped past the Rs 200 crore mark in the Indian market.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and bankrolled by Kalanthi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, the film opened in theatres on August 14. Rajinikanth dominates the screen with his unique style and swag, while Nagarjuna is seen with his serious dangerous style.
The high-octane action drama revolves around Deva, a former gold smuggler who seeks to reclaim his stature by harnessing hidden technology smuggled within antique golden watches. The star-studded ensemble features stalwarts such as Sathyaraj, Upendra and Shruti Haasan, while Aamir Khan’s cameo appearance serves as an additional delight for cinephiles.
According to a report on trade website Sacnilk, “Coolie” earned around Rs 160 crore in the Indian market in three days during the first weekend. On the fourth day, it collected Rs 35.25 crores and an additional Rs 12.15 crore fifth day, taking its cumulative Indian earning to a towering Rs 206 crore.
