Baghpat, (UNI) Minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnav, and union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Jayant Chaudhary, flagged off two new MEMU train services between Delhi and Shamli at Baraut station today.
Addressing the large gathering, Ashwini Vaishnav said, “Under the able guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Indian Railways is continuously striving to provide better passenger service. The launch of two new MEMU services between Delhi and Shamli will benefit daily commuters, students, farmers, and professionals in the region through improved mobility.
He further said that Shamli station is being upgraded to a modern and world-class level at a cost of Rs 25 crore under the ‘Amrit Bharat Station Yojana.’ A long-pending demand of the Shamli-Baghpat region is being fulfilled today with the inauguration of two new MEMU trains. These trains will make travel easier for the people of this region.
Vaishnav announced the doubling of the Delhi-Shamli section, the large crowd present at Baraut station greeted him with applause. Leaders present on the stage also expressed their gratitude to Ashwini Vaishnav for fulfilling the region’s long-pending demand.
Vaishnav said that 5,272 km of new tracks have been built in Uttar Pradesh after the year 2014, which is equal to the total rail network of Switzerland.
“100 percent electrification of railway lines has been done in UP. Apart from this, 1,460 flyovers and road under bridges have been built in UP after the year 2014. For the convenience of passengers, 154 lifts and 156 escalators have been installed at various stations, WiFi facility has been provided at 771 stations,” he said, adding that currently, 34 Vande Bharat Express and 26 Amrit Bharat Express trains are being operated in UP.
Baghpat MP Rajkumar Sangwan, former MP Dr. Satyapal Singh, Member of Legislative Council Mohit Beniwal, Member of Legislative Assembly Krishna Pal Malik, and Baraut Municipal Council Chairperson Babita Tomar were present on the occasion.
