Rail passengers urged to register mobile numbers for better travel alerts

Bhopal: Indian Railways is encouraging passengers to provide their mobile numbers when booking tickets to receive timely and essential travel information. This initiative aims to improve communication and provide a more seamless travel experience, according to Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria.

“Providing a mobile number is a small step in this digital age, but it offers significant benefits,” Kataria said. “It establishes a direct channel between the railway and the passenger, which is crucial, especially in emergencies.”

By registering their mobile number, passengers can receive SMS alerts on a range of important updates, including PNR status, coach position, train delays, and refund alerts. It also allows them to access convenient digital services, such as online cancellation of counter tickets and the ability to change their boarding station.
