New Delhi, Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday took a jibe at BJP MLA and candidate of Haryana’s Assandh Assembly constituency Bakshish Singh Virk, calling him ‘the most honest man in the BJP’, for his remarks on Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Mr Gandhi shared a video in twitter, in which Mr Virk purportedly said that voters can press any button, but votes will go to BJP only. “The most honest man in the BJP,” Mr Gandhi wrote along with the video.
Addressing a gathering in Assandh, Mr Virk purportedly had said that ‘press any button, the vote will go to BJP’. “Wherever you will vote, we will get to know that which persons has voted to whom. Don’t think we wont know, we deliberately won’t tell you, but if we want, we can find out who will you vote. Because Modi ji is intelligent, Manoharlal ji (Khattar) is intelligent…”, Mr Virk is heard saying.
In the video he further says, “You may vote for anybody, it will go to the flower (Kamal) only, I am telling you this, press any button, the vote will got to BJP, we have to fixed a ‘purja’ (part)in the EVM machines.”
After the video went viral, the Election Commission had issued a show-cause notice to Mr Virk and appointed a special observer to the constituency for ‘corrective action’. The BJP MLA, however, denied the allegation and claimed that the video was fake and doctored, adding that “there is no truth in this. It is a conspiracy to defame me and my party”.
