Rahul slams Modi, Kejriwal; accuses BJP & RSS of dividing people

New Delhi, Jan 28 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Tuesday lashed out at the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), alleging that while one party was dividing people, another was most corrupt and had miserably failed the people of Delhi.

Taking a dig at former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, Gandhi said, “he (Kejriwal) trembles at Modi’s name”.

Addressing public meetings at Patparganj and Okhla, he pointed out how the BJP and the RSS were trying to divide people in the name of religion and caste.

“We do not want an India of hatred, fear and violence, but an India of love, harmony and brotherhood,” he said amidst thunderous applause from the crowd.

He said during his Bharat Jodo Yatra, the slogan of unity had emerged, ‘nafrat ke bazaar mein, mohabbat ki dukan’ and noted that the Congress party will spread love and harmony everywhere.

Lashing out at the AAP government in Delhi and Arvind Kejriwal who had been chief minister for over10 years, he pointed out how he (Kejriwal) had promised to usher in a new kind of politics with transparency.

However, he alleged that, Kejriwal forgot everything and was involved in the biggest liquor scam.

He reminded the people how he would travel in a small car, climb over the electric poles and proclaim to practise neat and clean politics with complete transparency.

But, Gandhi added, he started living in a palace, the ‘Sheesh Mahal’.

He also took a dig at Kejriwal for issuing the “certificate of honesty” to himself. He observed, an honest man does not need to proclaim his own honesty.

The certificate of honesty should be issued by the people, he remarked.

In Patparganj, appealing to the people to ensure the victory of party candidate Anil Chaudhary, he said the sitting MLA Manish Sisodia had run away as he was the architect of the liquor scam.

Referring to the complete failure of the AAP government in Delhi, he said, the pollution was at its worse and people were suffering from diseases like asthma and cancer.

He alleged that there was no development as roads were broken. He reminded people how before Kejriwal, Sheila Dikshit had ushered in a lot of progress and development and changed the face of Delhi.

Gandhi claimed that Kejriwal was scared of Modi and would tremble on hearing his name, saying when people of Delhi, the minorities in particular needed Kejriwal, he ran away and it was only the Congress party, which stood by them.

Those present on the occasion included Qazi Nizamudin, Devender Yadav, Imran Masood and others.
