PV Sindhu’s Olympic streak ends in Round of 16

Paris, (UNI) India’s badminton ace PV Sindhu’s journey in the Paris Olympics came to a disappointing end on Thursday as she went down to China’s He Bingjiao in the round of 16.

This is the first time in her storied Olympic career that Sindhu failed to secure a medal.

The match at the La Chapelle Arena was marked by intense rallies and key moments, demonstrating the high level of competition. Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medalist, showcased her characteristic resilience, but failed to measure up to the consistency and strategic play of her rival who kept control of the game and ultimately secured the victory.

The first game was tightly contested, with He Bingjiao edging out Sindhu 21-19. Despite Sindhu’s efforts to stay in the match, the Chinese shuttler’s strong performance in the second game, where she quickly established an early lead, proved insurmountable. The game ended with a score of 21-14 in favour of He Bingjiao.

This result was a disappointing end to Sindhu’s campaign at Paris 2024, especially considering her previous successes on the Olympic stage. Fans and analysts are now left to speculate about the future trajectory of Sindhu’s career and her next moves on the international badminton scene.
