New Delhi, Nov 28 (UNI) : Russian President Vladimir Putin will be on a state visit to India at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi from December 4-5, 2025 for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit.
During the visit, President Putin will hold talks with PM Modi.
President Droupadi Murmu will also receive President Putin and host a banquet in his honour.
The forthcoming state visit of President Putin will provide an opportunity for the leadership of India and Russia to review progress in bilateral relations, set the vision for strengthening the ‘Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership,’ and exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest, the MEA said in a statement.
India and Russia share a longstanding, time-tested partnership, with their Strategic Partnership, established in 2000 and elevated to a “Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership” in 2010, serving as a key pillar of India’s foreign policy.
The Annual Summit between the leaders of both countries, along with regular telephone exchanges, ensures sustained high-level engagement, while joint statements, MoUs, and honours like the Order of Saint Andrew underscore the depth and continuity of this enduring partnership.
The Annual Summit between the Prime Minister of India and the President of the Russian Federation is the highest institutionalised dialogue mechanism in the strategic partnership between India and Russia. So far, 22 Annual Summits have taken place alternatively in India and Russia.
The last Summit was held on July 8-9, 2024 in Moscow. Following the Summit, a Joint Statement titled “India-Russia: Enduring and ExpandingPartnership” was released.
A separate leaders’ Joint Statement on the development of strategic areas of India-Russia economic cooperation for the period up to 2030 was also released apart from the signing of nine MoUs and Agreements.
