New Delhi, Oct 23 (UNI) Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday said that the bond between the people of Kerala’s Wayanad and the Congress is of affection and trust and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will carry this legacy as their representative.
On social media handle X, Kharge said, “The bond between the people of Wayanad and the Indian National Congress is one of deep affection, trust, and shared ideals.”
“Today, Smt. Priyanka Gandhi steps forward to carry ahead this legacy. She brings with her a compassionate heart, a fierce determination, and a long-standing commitment to justice, equality, and fraternity,” the Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha said.
“Her presence here today is not just a nomination — it is a promise. A promise that she will be a relentless champion for Wayanad and its people,” Kharge said.
It may be mentioned that Priyanka Gandhi filed her nomination for Wayanad Loksabha by-poll before the District Collector D R Meghasree at the Collectorate.
Party chief Kharge, Chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) Sonia Gandhi, Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi and general secretary K C Venugopal accompanied her as she filed the nomination.
Voting is scheduled to be held on November 13. The vote count is on November 23.
