Priyanka meets Nadda, seeks healthcare support for Wayanad

New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) Congress leader and Wayanad MP, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra today met Union Health Minister JP Nadda and raised concerns about urgent healthcare needs in her Lok Sabha constituency in Kerala.

During the meeting, she urged the Minister to expedite several pending health projects in the region, highlighting the severe hardships faced by the local population due to the delayed operationalisation of the Medical College in Mananthavady.

In a post on X, following the meeting with Nadda, Priyanka said, “Met Shri. @JPNadda to request to request him to expedite some health projects in Wayanad and to apprise him of the severe difficulties being faced by the local population in the absence of the Medical College in Mananthavady which is yet far from functional”.

She also stressed the importance of improving healthcare services for Wayanad’s tribal communities, addressing their specific medical challenges.

“We also discussed the need for better healthcare for Wayanad’s tribal population, their specific health issues, pending NHM funds and the need for a specialised trauma center catering to cases of animal attacks in the area”.

Additionally, she also renewed Kerala’s long-standing demand for an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the state to improve access to advanced healthcare facilities.

Thanking the Minister, Priyanka Gandhi said, “He was kind enough to hear out all our demands and hold a frank discussion with us. I sincerely hope that these pressing issues will be given due consideration”.
