New Delhi, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday hit out at the Narendra Modi-led Union government for the economic crisis facing the country and said that Industry bodies are advertising that they are in crisis under BJP rule. Sharing two advertisements by Northern India Textile Mills Association and Indian Tea Association, that appeared in newspapers, Ms Priyanka said that these advertisements revealed the reality of the BJP government’s claims about the economy.
“Till now, industrial bodies used to advertise that they are moving forward. Under the rule of the BJP government, many have to advertise and say that they are drowning and save them. The rest you can understand”, the Congress general secretary tweeted. According to the advertisement, Northern India Textile Mills Association said that Indian Spinning industry is facing its biggest crisis, resulting in huge job losses.
“The cotton and Blends spinning industry is passing through biggest crisis similar to last seen in 2010-11”, they added in the advertisement. Indian Tea Association also said that country’s Tea industry is in crisis and put forward an appeal to the government, “Viability of the Tea sector critical for security of employment of the million plus work force. Intervention for revival of the Tea sector an urgent necessity”.
On Monday, Ms Priyanka had criticised Modi government for the job losses and the closure of companies because of the alleged economic slowdown. “The government’s silence is dangerous. Companies are not working. People are being fired from their jobs. After all, who is responsible for this recession in the country?”, Ms Priyanka had asked.
