Jeddah (Saudi Arabia), Nov 25 (UNI) Indian cricketer Prithvi Shaw on Monday failed to secure a spot in the final round of bidding at the ongoing mega auction, going unsold despite high expectations.
Shaw, who has been a prominent name in domestic cricket and had previously shown promise in the Indian Premier League (IPL), was notably absent when the final list of shortlisted players was revealed.
The 24-year-old, known for his aggressive batting style and match-winning performances, had hoped for a lucrative deal in the auction. However, he was unable to attract the attention of franchisees during the bidding rounds, resulting in his unsold status.
Shaw’s exclusion from the final round has raised eyebrows, with several cricket experts speculating that the player’s recent inconsistent form and off-field controversies might have influenced teams’ decisions.
The cricketer had been a part of previous IPL seasons, with his most notable stint being with Delhi Capitals.
Despite his undoubted talent, Shaw’s performance in recent seasons had been below expectations, which might have played a role in his failure to find a new team for the upcoming IPL season.
With the mega auction now concluded, Shaw will be left to reconsider his next steps as he looks to regain form and prove his worth in future opportunities.
