Bhopal: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has announced the conferment of the President’s Distinguished Service Medal on four officers of the Madhya Pradesh Police, while 17 officers and personnel will receive the Medal for Meritorious Service. The decorations will be presented at a formal investiture ceremony on Independence Day, August 15, 2026.
Those selected for the President’s Distinguished Service Medal include Indore Police Commissioner Santosh Kumar Singh, Inspector General of Police, Narmadapuram Zone, Mithilesh Kumar Shukla, Additional Police Commissioner Avadhesh Kumar Goswami, and Inspector Shiv Kumar Patel. The award recognises exceptional devotion to duty and sustained distinguished service in policing.
The Medal for Meritorious Service has been announced for a wider group of officers and personnel for their commendable contribution to law enforcement and public service. The awardees include Inspector General of Police and Secretary, Home Department, Krishnavenni Desavattu; Senior Superintendent of Police, Khandwa, Manoj Kumar Rai; Zonal Superintendent of Police, Gwalior, Gitesh Kumar Garg; Superintendent of Police, Lokayukta, Bhopal, Durgesh Kumar Rathore; and several inspectors, deputy superintendents, sub-inspectors, assistant sub-inspectors, head constables and constables from different units, including ARMR.
Senior officials said the honours reflect the professionalism, dedication and commitment of the Madhya Pradesh Police in maintaining law and order and serving the public with integrity.
