New Delhi, President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Ministers on Tuesday greeted the people on the occasion of 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.
In his message, the President said, “The life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji inspires us to build a society based on his teachings of equality, compassion and social amity”. “Greetings to all fellow citizens, especially to our Sikh brothers and sisters in India and abroad”, Mr Kovind added.
In a series of tweets, the Vice-President said, “I pray that the light of wisdom and humanity lit by Guru Nanak Dev Ji will guide us to build a more harmonious, peaceful and compassionate world.
“His virtuous life and his divine teachings will keep inspiring us to follow the path of truth and have compassion for all humankind, irrespective of caste, creed or religion.’Mr Naidu said that Guru Nanak Dev Ji taught ethical and compassionate ways to lead a life of satisfaction and fulfillment.
“He was an icon of truth, compassion, and righteousness. Guru Nanak Dev Ji was a shining apostle of the sublime spiritual ethos of India. He truly democratised religion by making spiritual truths easily understandable for common man. He rejected rituals and superstitions and kindled devotion to the Supreme God”, Mr Naidu added.
The Prime Minister said it is a day to rededicate ourselves to fulfilling Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s dream of a just, inclusive and harmonious society.
“Today, on the very special occasion of the 550th Prakash Parv of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, my greetings to everyone. This is a day to rededicate ourselves to fulfilling Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s dream of a just, inclusive and harmonious society”, the Prime Minister tweeted.
Taking to twitter, Home Minister Amit Shah said, “Guru Nanak Dev Ji is a unique symbol of India’s rich saint tradition and his teachings, thoughts and his resolve to serve humanity are an inspiration for everyone’.
The Home Minister also said that the historic Kartarpur Corridor dedicated to the countrymen by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 550th Prakash Parv is a true tribute to Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
