Minister PC Sharma and Mayor Alok Sharma inaugurated Mayor Trophy Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament at Ankur ground of State capital on Sunday evening. Before inauguration of tournament, tribute was paid to 10-years-old girl of Kotra area who was allegedly raped and killed by a lusty youth.
After inauguration, Mayor Alok Sharma told that Bhopal Municipal Corporation always remains on front foot to promote sports and players. “The manner Bhopal was known as nursery of hockey, we want that Bhopal should be also known as nursery of cricket,” he told.
Minister PC Sharma lauded the efforts of BMC in the field of sports and announced to provide greenery and other basic facilities to Ankur Ground from sports department. The inaugural match was played between two electronic media teams.
On this occasion, Additional Commissioner Rajesh Rathore, Mayor-in-Council Member Surendra Badika, Deputy Commissioner Harish Gupta, Corporator Pradhyuman Monu Gohal, Yogendra Chouhan ‘Guddu’ and sports persons were present.
Notably, winner of trophy will get Rs 5 lakh cash award and runner up team will get cash prize of Rs 2.50 lakh. The team coming on third place will get cash prize of Rs 1 lakh. The main of the tournament award consist cash prize of Rs 11,000. In this competition, 64 local teams and 16 outside teams are participating.
