On an incident of a criminal escaping from clutches of police in broad daylight in Muzaffarnagar, Congress general secretary of eastern Uttar Pradesh Priyanka Gandhi on Wednesday held Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led Bhartiya Janata Party government responsible.
According to a media report, an accused Rohit alias Sandu escaped after a police team escorting him was attacked by gun shots by his associates in Salarpur village under Jansath police station area of Muzaffarnagar. In the incident a sub-inspector was injured.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Priyanka said in Hindi, “Haath Kangan ko Arsi Kya, padhe Likhe ko Farsi kya”. The phrase is a Hindi idiom meaning, “If some thing happening, face to face before you, then its useless to ask evidence/proof for the incident, as you are a witness.”
She further said, “People of the state are asking the government why the crime is going to such an extent”.
The Congress leader has also alleged that the state government was giving incorrect statistics.
In a reply to a tweet of Priyanka over the law and order situation, UP police DGO O P Singh gave statistic about decreasing in crime in the state.
BJP MP from Allahabad Rita Bahuguna Joshi said,” Crime had been tamed in UP. The people of the state have rejected those who were doing negative politics.”
