Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Police have intensified their crackdown on illegal arms, seizing 42 weapons across multiple districts over the past two weeks as part of efforts to curb crime and restrict unlawful trade and use of firearms.
In Indore, police arrested a key convict operating through social media to supply illegal weapons, recovering six country-made pistols. Another accused was also held with an illegal firearm, taking the district’s total to seven seizures. In Datia, coordinated action by several police stations led to the recovery of 11 illegal weapons, with arrests linked to offences including robbery and firing incidents.
Morena police seized six illegal arms, while in Gwalior, four weapons were recovered and absconding suspects in serious cases, including attempted murder, were apprehended. Jabalpur reported the seizure of three illegal firearms through joint police and crime branch operations.
In Shivpuri, Chhatarpur and Panna, two weapons each were recovered, while one illegal arm was seized in Sagar, Vidisha, Khargone, Satna and Niwari districts.
Police stated that such sustained action will continue to ensure law and order and enhance public safety across the state.
