Police saves woman attempting suicide

Bhopal: A prompt and sensitive response by Dial-112 personnel helped save the life of a young woman who had attempted suicide by sitting on a railway track in Niwari district on March 16.

The state-level Dial-112 control room in Bhopal received information that a woman was sitting on the railway track near Niwari railway station with the intent to end her life. Acting swiftly, the nearest response vehicle from Kotwali police station was dispatched to the spot.

Upon arrival, Constable Narendra Gautam and pilot Anand Kumar found the 21-year-old woman in a distressed state, reportedly due to a family dispute. Assessing the urgency, the team intervened with patience and empathy, persuading her to move away from the track and ensuring her safety.

After verification of her identity, the woman was handed over to her family members.

The incident highlights the effectiveness of the Dial-112 service, which not only provides rapid emergency assistance but also demonstrates compassion in preventing tragic outcomes and encouraging a positive outlook towards life.
