Bhopal: In a special drive launched ahead of the festival of Holi, the Madhya Pradesh Police have recovered 1,835 lost and stolen mobile phones across various districts of the State over the past three weeks. The recovered devices, collectively valued at more than Rs 3 crore, have been returned to their rightful owners, reinforcing public confidence in the police.
Acting with priority to safeguard citizens’ property, the police utilised modern technological tools, cyber analysis, and the coordinated use of the CEIR and NCRP portals. Special teams constituted at the police station level played a crucial role in tracing the devices, many of which were located in other States.
Significant recoveries were reported from Gwalior (551 phones worth Rs 1.33 crore), Chhatarpur (200 phones), Ujjain (409 phones worth Rs 73.5 lakh), Singrauli (172 phones), Mandla (253 phones), and Guna (213 phones worth over Rs 50 lakh). In Katni and Jabalpur (GRP), arrests were made and stolen handsets seized from accused persons.
In several districts, mobile distribution programmes were organised to mark Holi, bringing smiles to citizens. The initiative reflects the State police’s commitment to sensitive and technology-driven policing while strengthening public trust and safety.
