Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Police have recovered 698 lost and stolen mobile phones in coordinated operations across Vidisha, Burhanpur and Anuppur districts, officials said. The recovered devices are estimated to be worth more than Rs 1.68 crore and were traced using technical surveillance and the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal before being returned to their rightful owners.
In Vidisha district, under the “Mission Mobile Recovery” initiative, police recovered 603 mobile phones valued at about Rs 1.50 crore from different police station areas. Several of these devices were traced not only within the state but also in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan and Bihar.
In Burhanpur, the cyber cell and cyber help desks at police stations traced 70 missing smartphones worth nearly Rs 13 lakh, including devices recovered from neighbouring districts and Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, police teams in Anuppur district recovered 25 missing mobile phones worth around Rs 4.32 lakh from Ramnagar and Bijuri police station areas.
Police officials urged citizens to report lost phones promptly and register complaints on the CEIR portal to prevent misuse and help authorities trace devices quickly.
