Bhopal: In preparation for Simhastha–2028, the Madhya Pradesh Police on Monday organised a one-day seminar at Hotel Anjushree in Ujjain to devise a comprehensive strategy for the safe and seamless conduct of the mega religious gathering. Senior officers deliberated on anticipated challenges, crowd and traffic regulation, deployment of forces and logistical management.

The seminar was inaugurated by DG, EOW, Upendra Jain, who reflected on the challenges faced during the 2004 congregation and underscored the need for extensive use of advanced technology. The programme followed a training concept modelled on the experiences of the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela, with senior IPS and ADG-rank officers invited as faculty.

ADG (Training) Rajababu Singh outlined the proposed training roadmap, while DIG (Special Branch) Tarun Nayak elaborated on the “4-S Model” Sharing, Sensitisation, Synergy and Strategy as the foundation for preparedness.

Panel discussions reviewed lessons from Simhastha 2004 and 2016, focusing on crowd control, traffic systems and accommodation for thousands of personnel. Experts from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai also emphasised soft skills and sensitisation.

A total of 52 senior officers participated, marking a significant step towards ensuring the security and convenience of millions of pilgrims expected in 2028.
