Police nab thief who jumped off moving train

Bhopal: A youth was caught by police after he suspiciously jumped off a moving train at Bhopal railway station. Upon questioning, he was identified as a thief. Authorities recovered four mobile phones and a lady’s purse from his possession. The purse belonged to a female passenger on the same train.

According to Saurabh Kataria, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager of Railways, RPF constables Amit Kundu and Dharmendra Kumar were patrolling on a motorcycle when they spotted the suspect around 4 a.m. near Bharat Talkies Bridge. At that time, train number 18234 (Chhattisgarh Express) was passing, and the young man was seen jumping off in a suspicious manner.

The man was stopped and identified himself as Naved, 32, a resident of Bhopal. A search revealed four mobile phones and a woman’s purse. During interrogation, Naved confessed to stealing the purse from train 18234 and the mobile phones from other trains.

The case was handed over to the Government Railway Police (GRP). The constables took the accused to the GRP Bhopal unit, and he was later transferred to Rani Kamlapati GRP Police Station for further investigation. A case has been registered under Section 305(C) of the BNS.
