New Delhi, Mar 8 (UNI) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Delhi State President Saurabh Bhardwaj on Sunday alleged that Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golchha was acting as an agent for the ruling BJP, after a team of AAP workers was stopped from entering the area in Uttam Nagar where 26-year-old Tarun Khatik was killed on Holi.
Bhardwaj and other AAP workers had come to the area to meet the family members of the deceased.
“We came to Uttam Nagar to meet the family of the deceased, Tarun. The DCP stopped us, but allowed 20 BJP workers to enter in front of us and the media. Delhi Police is openly acting as a mediator for the BJP over the body of a young man. Police Commissioner Satish Golchha is doing the BJP’s bidding,” Bhardwaj said.
The Delhi Police have so far arrested eight persons in connection with the case.
The eighth accused, Imran alias Bunty, was arrested on Sunday. The police had earlier arrested Umardeen (49), Jummadeen (36), Kamruddin (36), Mustaque (46), Muzzafar (25), Tahir (18), and a minor.
According to police, the incident occurred on March 4 during a clash between Tarun’s family and their neighbours in the JJ Colony area, which began after water from a balloon thrown by a girl from Tarun’s family splashed onto a woman from the neighbouring household.
The two families reportedly had a history of disputes spanning nearly five decades over issues such as parking and waste disposal. Charges of murder and provisions under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act have been added to the FIR.
Earlier in the day, the MCD also demolished a portion of the house belonging to the accused, stating that it was an illegal structure.
