Washington, Aug 29 (UNI) Poland has taken possession of the first of its eventual fleet of 32 F-35A Lightning II fighter jets, the aircraft’s prime contractor, Lockheed Martin, announced in a press release on Wednesday.
“Lockheed Martin presented Poland’s first F-35A Lightning II to the Polish government during a rollout ceremony at Lockheed Martin’s F-35 production facility,” the release said.
Poland’s F-35 jets, named “Husarz’s” after the cavalry forces of the country’s past, will be equipped to connect military assets across domains to increase situational awareness, the release said.
The first aircraft, designated AZ-01, will be based at Ebbing Air National Guard Base, Arkansas, where Poland will be the first international customer to conduct pilot training, the release added.
