New Delhi, Aug 9 (UNI) Karnataka, is all set for a major boost in infrastructure tomorrow with the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he will inaugurate the Yellow Line of the Bengaluru Metro, lay the foundation stone for the Phase-3 Metro project, and flag off three Vande Bharat Express trains, said a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office today. The projects are aimed at improving connectivity and making travel easier across the state.
During the day, the Prime Minister will flag off three Vande Bharat Express trains at KSR Bengaluru Railway Station. These include the Bengaluru–Belagavi, Amritsar–Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, and Nagpur (Ajni)–Pune routes, promising to reduce travel time and strengthen regional links.
Subsequently, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Yellow Line of Bengaluru Metro’s Phase-2, covering over 19 km with 16 stations, worth approximately Rs 7,160 crore. With the opening of this yellow line, the operational metro network in Bengaluru will increase to over 96 km serving a large number of commuters in the region, said the statement.
In a landmark move, Modi will also lay the foundation stone for Bengaluru Metro Phase-3, a Rs 15,610 crore project spanning more than 44 km with 31 elevated stations. This expansion is poised to address the city’s growing transit demands across residential, industrial, commercial, and educational hubs, as per the statement.
