PM pays tribute to Dr Lohia on birth anniversary, highlights legacy of social justice

New Delhi, March 23 (UNI) ‎Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday paid tributes to socialist leader Ram Manohar Lohia on his birth anniversary, remembering him as a “multifaceted personality” whose ideas continue to shape India’s social and political discourse.

‎In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “Tributes to Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Ji on his birth anniversary.

He was a multifaceted personality who played a pivotal role in mobilising people against colonial rule and subsequently contributing to the progress of India after 1947.”

‎Modi further highlighted Lohia’s intellectual and ideological contributions, particularly his advocacy for equity and inclusion. “

He was an outstanding thinker and one of the foremost voices of social justice. His unwavering commitment to the cause of empowering the poor and the marginalised continues to inspire generations,” he wrote.

‎The Prime Minister also underscored Lohia’s progressive views on governance and gender.

“Equally noteworthy are his thoughts on gender equality and participatory governance,” Modi added, pointing to the enduring relevance of Lohia’s ideas in contemporary policymaking.

‎Dr Lohia, a key figure in India’s freedom struggle, was known for his strong opposition to colonial rule and his role in mobilising masses through socialist ideology.
