PM Modi to review progress of Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project on Nov 15

New Delhi, Nov 14 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Gujarat on November 15 to inspect the ongoing construction of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR), popularly known as the Bullet Train project. This infrastructure marvel aims to drastically reduce travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to just two hours, heralding a new era of rapid and efficient connectivity.

According to an official government release, “At around 10 am, Prime Minister Modi will visit the under-construction Bullet Train Station in Surat to review the progress of the MAHSR, one of India’s most ambitious infrastructure projects symbolizing the nation’s leap into high-speed connectivity.”

The Surat station, still under construction, reflects the city’s famed diamond industry in its design and will include spacious waiting lounges, modern restrooms, and retail outlets to enhance passenger comfort.

Spanning approximately 508 kilometers, the MAHSR extends across Gujarat (352 km) and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, and Maharashtra (156 km). The project employs advanced engineering, including 465 kilometers of viaducts, designed to minimize land disruption and enhance safety.

Key updates include the advanced completion of the Surat-Bilimora stretch of 47 kilometers, where civil work and track-bed laying are fully done. The corridor will link major cities such as Sabarmati, Ahmedabad, Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Bilimora, Vapi, Boisar, Virar, Thane, and Mumbai.

The Bullet Train is poised to stimulate business, tourism, and economic activity along its route, acting as a catalyst for regional development. Sustainability measures have been integrated into the station design, featuring rainwater harvesting, water-saving sanitary fixtures, and eco-friendly paints.

PM Modi’s visit aims to evaluate the project’s progress and strategize further steps with senior officials, providing a timely impetus as the project targets completion by 2027. This visit underscores the government’s commitment to advancing India’s infrastructure prowess and enhancing the commuter experience.
