  • Engages virtually in “Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan”

Bhopal. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the first phase of the Bhopal Metro in October, marking a significant milestone for the city’s infrastructure. This comes after Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav extended an invitation to the Prime Minister during their meeting in New Delhi on Monday, May 23.

PM to address “Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan” closing

Earlier, PM Modi is expected to virtually participate in the closing ceremony of Madhya Pradesh’s “Jal Ganga Samvardhan Abhiyan” (Water Ganga Conservation Campaign), addressing the people of the state on its success. Chief Minister Yadav informed PM Modi about this vital water conservation initiative, which ran from March 30 to June 30. He highlighted Khandwa district’s achievement of securing the top position nationally in groundwater storage, with Madhya Pradesh ranking among the top four states. The campaign drew inspiration from Gujarat’s successful efforts in restoring old wells, stepwells, and riverbanks.

Focus on development, agriculture and textile park

During their meeting, CM Yadav updated the Prime Minister on various welfare schemes aimed at the four pillars of development: the poor, youth, farmers (“Annadata”), and women. He extended an invitation to PM Modi to inaugurate a massive farmers’ conference in Sehore district, scheduled for October 12-14, which will host over 200,000 farmers to boost agricultural income, food processing, and agro-based industries. Additionally, CM Yadav invited the Prime Minister for the groundbreaking ceremony and industrial plot allocation for the PM Mitra Textile Park being developed with central government support in the tribal region of Dhar.

Madhya Pradesh nears end of Naxal activity

Chief Minister Yadav also provided an update on the state’s efforts to eradicate Naxalism. He reported that over 10 Naxalites with a combined bounty of Rs 1.62 crore have been neutralized in the last 18 months. Balaghat, previously the sole Naxal-affected district, now sees only isolated Naxal activities at the Tehsil level. CM Yadav expressed confidence that Naxalite activities in the state will be completely controlled by March 2026, aligning with Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s declaration.

New promotion rules to benefit 5 lakh employees

In a significant move for state employees, CM Yadav informed PM Modi about new promotion rules implemented by the state government, resolving a nine-year-long stagnation. These rules are expected to benefit approximately 5 lakh employees and pave the way for the recruitment of over 2 lakh new positions.

Global conference on standard time and Vikramaditya Award proposed

Looking ahead, CM Yadav announced that Madhya Pradesh will host a global conference on Standard Time in January. He explained that Ujjain, the city of Mahakal, was once the center of time calculation 3,000 years ago before colonial powers shifted it to Paris and then Greenwich. Asian scientists now agree that accurate time calculation should originate from the East, with India being the ideal location. A new observatory near Ujjain, set up by the state’s science and technology department, is set to become a future hub for time calculation.

Finally, the Chief Minister proposed establishing national and international awards in the name of Emperor Vikramaditya of Ujjain, known for his ancient establishment of good governance and republicanism. He sought PM Modi’s support for this initiative, which aims to honor the emperor’s legacy through cultural recognition.
