PM Modi to inaugurate Bengaluru Yellow Line Metro on Aug 10

Bengaluru, Aug 3 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the much-anticipated Yellow Line of Bengaluru Metro on August 10, marking a major leap in the city’s public transport infrastructure. The announcement was made by Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, who thanked the Prime Minister for prioritising the city’s mobility needs.

The 19.15-kilometre Yellow Line stretches from RV Road to Bommasandra and includes 16 stations, constructed at a cost of Rs 5,056.99 crore. Once operational, it is expected to cater to nearly 8 lakh daily commuters and significantly reduce traffic congestion, particularly at the infamously choked Silk Board junction.

“Hon. PM Sri @narendramodi Ji will inaugurate the all-important Yellow Line metro on August 10. On behalf of all people of Bengaluru, I thank PM for always prioritising infrastructure development of our city,” Surya posted on social media.

He also affirmed that the project would be inaugurated ahead of schedule. “We are meeting the August 15 deadline! It happened only because of PM’s personal insistence that this must be open to public without any further delay,” he said.

In addition to launching the Yellow Line, the Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the 44.65-kilometre-long Phase-3 of the Bengaluru Metro, to be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 15,611 crore. This new phase aims to further extend metro connectivity across peripheral areas, supporting Bengaluru’s fast-growing urban footprint.

“Public transport is the only option to reduce traffic congestion,” Surya stressed, pointing out that the continuous expansion of Namma Metro reflects the government’s vision for sustainable and accessible urban mobility.

With both the Yellow Line and the upcoming Phase-3, Bengaluru moves closer to building a robust and future-ready transit system for its rapidly expanding population.
