New Delhi, Feb 19 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday paid respectful tributes to the 19th-century saint and spiritual luminary Swami Ramakrishna Paramahansa on the occasion of his birth anniversary, recalling his enduring contribution to spirituality and humanity.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said, “Respectful tributes to Swami Ramakrishna Paramahansa on his birth anniversary. The way he established spirituality and spiritual practice as a life force will continue to benefit humanity in every age. His noble thoughts and messages will always remain a source of inspiration.”
Swami Ramakrishna Paramahansa, born in 1836 in Bengal, is revered as one of India’s greatest spiritual figures. Known for his deep devotion, simplicity, and direct spiritual experiences, he emphasized the unity of all religions and the pursuit of God through sincere devotion and selfless love.
His teachings had a profound influence on Indian spiritual thought and inspired several prominent disciples, most notably Swami Vivekananda, who went on to introduce Indian philosophy and Vedanta to the Western world. Prime Minister Modi highlighted that Ramakrishna Paramahansa’s approach to spirituality — presenting it as a living, dynamic force capable of transforming individuals and society — continues to guide people across generations.
Spiritual leaders and devotees across the country also commemorated the occasion with prayers, discourses, and community service activities, reflecting the saint’s message of harmony, compassion, and universal brotherhood. The Prime Minister’s tribute underscored the continued relevance of Ramakrishna Paramahansa’s teachings in fostering moral strength, inner peace, and collective well-being in contemporary times.
