PM Modi hosted for private dinner by Singapore PM ahead of tomorrow’s talks

Singapore/New Delhi, Sep 4 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on Wednesday evening hosted to a private dinner by Singaporean PM Lawrence Wong, ahead of their formal bilateral talks tomorrow.

The MEA spokesperson said on X that PM was hosted by the Singapore PM at the iconic Sri Temasek, a 19th century bungalow designated as the prime minister’s official residence.

“Fortifying India-Singapore bonds of friendship.

“PM @narendramodi warmly hosted by PM @LawrenceWongST at the iconic Sri Temasek in Singapore.

“An evening cherishing the deep and long-standing India-Singapore ties awaits.”

The Singapore PM, posted a picture of the two PMs exchanging a warm hug, and wrote on X:

“Welcome PM @narendramodi to Singapore! Delighted to have the chance to catch up over a meal at the Istana, before the official meetings tomorrow.”

The Singapore Foreign Ministry in a statement said that this is PM Modi’s fifth visit to Singapore, and he had last visited Singapore in 2018.

Tomorrow, Prime Minister Modi will receive an official welcome at the Parliament House, call on President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and meet Prime Minister Wong.

Prime Minister Wong and Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong will host separate meals for Prime Minister Modi during his visit. Prime Minister Modi will also meet Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong.

Prime Minister Modi will participate in a business roundtable with Singaporean business leaders organised by the Singapore Business Federation, interact with Singapore’s semiconductor ecosystem players, and engage students from Singapore in the India Ready Talent Programme who did internships in India, and the Odisha World Skills Center interns in Singapore companies.

Prime Minister Modi will be accompanied by Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, as well as other government officials, the statement said.
