New Delhi, Oct 26 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi today extended his greetings to everyone on the occasion of Kharna Puja, a key ritual of the Chhath Parva festivities
Sharing his message on X, the Prime Minister said, “Warm greetings to all on the sacred occasion of Kharna Puja during Chhath Parva,” and offered respectful salutations to the devotees observing the fast.
Kharna Puja holds deep significance in the Chhath festival, representing faith, self-discipline, and devotion. On this day, devotees partake in satvik prasad, traditionally prepared with jaggery-based kheer.
PM Modi expressed his hope that Chhathi Maiya showers her blessings on everyone during this auspicious time. “This ritual, embodying faith and restraint, is marked by the custom of consuming satvik prasad made from jaggery kheer. I pray that Chhathi Maiya blesses all on this sacred occasion,” he added.
Chhath Puja, widely celebrated across Bihar, Jharkhand, and eastern Uttar Pradesh, is a festival that honours the Sun God and Chhathi Maiya with deep reverence. The four-day festival includes strict fasting, prayers, and offerings to the rising and setting sun, reflecting profound cultural traditions.
Through his message, PM Modi underscored the cultural importance of Chhath Puja and the pivotal role of Kharna Puja, reiterating the government’s dedication to preserving India’s rich heritage.
