New Delhi, Feb 28 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday congratulated the Jammu and Kashmir cricket team on winning their first-ever Ranji Trophy title, calling the achievement a “historic triumph” and a proud moment for the union Territory.
In a message posted on X, the Prime Minister praised the team’s performance and spirit. “Congratulations to the Jammu and Kashmir team for their first ever Ranji Trophy win! This historic triumph reflects remarkable grit, discipline and passion of the team,” he wrote.
Describing the victory as significant for the region, Modi said it underscored the growing sporting culture in Jammu and Kashmir. “It is a proud moment for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and it highlights the growing sporting passion and talent there,” he added.
The Ranji Trophy, India’s premier domestic first-class cricket tournament, has long served as a platform for emerging cricket talent from across the country. Jammu and Kashmir’s maiden title marks a major milestone for the team, which has steadily progressed in recent seasons.
